CANGYM

What is CANGYM?

CanGym is a developmental program designed by Gymnastics Canada that allows kids to expand on their skills starting at a beginner level and working towards advanced levels of skill acquisition.

The Cangym program consists of 12 different badges, each containing approximately 20 skills. The key skills in this program are considered “building blocks” for more advanced gymnastics but can also stand alone as excellent recreational level skills.

IMPORTANT: Only the Badge 1 & 2 classes require no experience. All other badges require students to have completed the previous level.

Badge 1 & 2 (ages 6+)

This class offers an introduction to all acrobatic movements and gross motor skills. Athletes learn skills like safe landings, runs, log rolls, jumps and balancing techniques.  Your child will get introduced to all gymnastics events, including the trampoline and airbags.

Badge 3 & 4 (ages 6+)

The 1.5-hour Badge 3/4 co-ed class will have gymnasts continuing to advance their skills on each apparatus. Some of the skills they will work on mastering are pullovers, cartwheels, handstand rolls and bridge work.

Badges 5+ (girls ages 8+)

The athletes develop skills required for women’s artistic gymnastics apparatuses. These skills include round-offs, walkovers, handsprings, saltos on trampoline, cartwheels and handstands on beam, as well as back hip circles and kip drills on bars.
